I was pleased to be back at the world renown Christie Hospital, School of Oncology again for my 2 day Introduction to Cancer: Anatomy, Biology & Treatment course. 31 people attended from a variety of backgrounds and the evaluations are in.
I was pleased to be back at the world renown Christie Hospital, School of Oncology again for my 2 day Introduction to Cancer: Anatomy, Biology & Treatment course. 31 people attended from a variety of backgrounds: pharmaceutical company representatives, those from insurance companies, NHS staff, Clinical Trials staff, Hospice and charity sectors, comprising of key customer managers, triage specialists, occupational therapist, radiographers, nuclear medicine technologists, trials monitors, clinical trial administrators, research nurses, chemotherapy nurses and a family history nurse.
Such a diverse group makes such a course both challenging and rewarding in equal measure. Challenging because of the wide range of experience and knowledge, which leads to a wide range of expectations from the course. And rewarding because the feedback would suggest that I managed to meet these expectations once again.
Here is a sample of some of the main points from the evaluation.
- 100% of respondents said they would recommend the course
- 64% said they would change their working practise based on what they had learned
- 99% responded that ‘the effectiveness of the speaker’ was ‘excellent’
- 98% rated the ‘educational content’ as ‘excellent’
- 99% responded that they had furthered their knowledge about cancer.

“All parts of the course were explained clearly and in an easy to understand format and included more intricate explanations also. David was great, he spent time asking and answering lots of questions so everyone in the room understood and were up to speed at the same time before moving on to the next subject/ part of the course. David is the best event speaker/ teacher I have attended! We covered a broad range of topics in the 2 days but it wasn’t at all boring as you sometimes find with long courses. David was well organised and didn’t run late with time, but fitted everything in and allowed enough time for each topic. I could have easily attended a third day as his way of teaching and explaining, I found great.”
