“I felt everyone in the room got a lot out of it, it was pitched at the right level for all trainees, even though we all come from different area’s in CRUK. from the nurses to PHD’s. Great course, I will be recommending it to everyone and I’ll hopefully sign up for one of your Webinars”
Christine Campbell, Cancer Awareness Nurse, Cancer Research UK
“The course was one of the most engaging and interesting courses I’ve ever been on, largely down to the imagination and creativity of the trainer. Dave makes complex science fun and memorable and has the ability to engage everyone in the room, really capturing the imagination of the entire room. also, very patient when answering questions and ensures everyone is given time to speak.”
Ceri Eames, Cancer Awareness Nurse Manager, Cancer Research UK
YOUR cancer knowldge is MY priority.
Glioblastoma is a brain tumour recently brought to the nations attention through Tessa Jowell's diagnosis

Just received some great feedback.
“I have been able to successfully access all the webinars I have enrolled upon. I have even had the opportunity to enrol on some of the recorded webinars.
The process is very easy and navigation once in the webinar is simple and easy to follow.
David is an excellent teacher and ensures there is ample interaction throughout his webinar sessions. He is happy to answer questions on the day as they arise and offers the opportunity to answer any questions that arise once the webinar is finished. He is very knowledgeable and can easily interact with people whatever their previous knowledge base.
This has been a fantastic and very knowledge building experience, something that has been re-iterated by my colleagues undertaking the webinars.
Being new to research and Oncology I have found the webinars to be an excellent source of sound information and look forward to experiencing more of them as the subjects become available.”

I recently published a video with some thoughts around skin cancer. Take a look.
Skin cancer in the UK is on the rise and it all stems from our love affair with the sun. Below you will find a video with a few of my thoughts around skin cancer. (Click on the picture to see the video.)I hope you enjoy it and it makes you think about your relationship with the sun and in particular your exposure to UV radiation.

I was pleased to be back at the world renown Christie Hospital, School of Oncology again for my 2 day Introduction to Cancer: Anatomy, Biology & Treatment course. 31 people attended from a variety of backgrounds: pharmaceutical company representatives, those from insurance companies, NHS staff, Clinical Trials staff, Hospice and charity sectors, comprising of key customer managers, triage specialists, occupational therapist, radiographers, nuclear medicine technologists, trials monitors, clinical trial administrators, research nurses, chemotherapy nurses and a family history nurse.
Such a diverse group makes such a course both challenging and rewarding in equal measure. Challenging because of the wide range of experience and knowledge, which leads to a wide range of expectations from the course. And rewarding because the feedback would suggest that I managed to meet these expectations once again.
Here is a sample of some of the main points from the evaluation.
My new book Cancer Demystified is out now!
Currently, many oncology books on the market cover the topic extremely well but tend to be detailed and complex; indeed, without an extensive knowledge of the subject the reader can quickly become lost. Therefore, having successfully delivered education and training to those working within cancer services and charities, pharmaceutical companies, private research companies and others, I felt it was time to provide this comprehensive learning experience in text format.
Cancer Demystified is not intended to make you a cancer expert, rather it covers the science of the disease in a way that is easily accessible. Years of teaching those from a non-cancer, non-academic or non-science background has allowed me to tailor my teaching, bringing across important information in an understandable way.
This book will be essential reading for those struggling to get to grips with cancer and its terminology, and can be used as a handy tool for comprehending and contextualising the information that you read daily. It will also provide examples of how to communicate complex information to your peers and patients alike, in a way that they can understand.
Cancer Demystified is available in paperback or as an ebook.
